You Sure Do Have A Purty Mouth

I’m now two weeks away from moving down south and I’ve got to admit, the anxiety is starting to kick in. While I’m mad happy to be starting my life with Angela, I have a handful of conflicting feelings about moving from JC/NYC to North Carolina — from all-around accessibility issues and gas prices (I’ll have to drive with regularity for the first time in five years) to experiencing homogeneous culture shock to actually enjoying a cheaper and more relaxed/healthier lifestyle.

See? I’m conflicted, but in a very good way.

All in all, I’m ready for a change. And if you know me, when I make changes in life (or when life makes changes to me), it’s usually drastic. This time it’s a bit different; there’s some planning behind it all. And while I’ve never been one for planning life, I’m feeling pretty good about the course I’m undertaking.

In a few weeks, I’ll probably end up waxing poetic about leaving the area I’ve considered home for most of my 34 years, but for now, I leave you with the funniest worst-case scenario video montage of America; an America that’ll be much closer in proximity to me in a few weeks than ever before.

The South

Get over yourself. I grew up in the South, and have also lived in dense urban areas (currently Northern California). People are generally the same everywhere you go. Sure there are dialectic differences, culinary differences, and quality of life differences, but at the end of the day people want to be happy and generally peaceful. The one big difference I’ve found is that city dwellers tend to whine a lot more.

agreed, and that’s one of the pros for moving. i’m not anti-south at all. i’m just feeling some last minute jitters and having some fun with it.

The South will rise again…or at least get up, scratch itself and give you a big ‘ol hug and offer you some sweet tea when you get there. There are going to be some striking differences (like moving from Teas to New Yawk City) but I belive people are generally good, some are just a bit misinformed about different things. Whether it’s gun control or animal rights it’s all fodder for all us good citizens to wrestle over while the man behind the curtain pull levels and twiddles knobs…where is that darn dog (media?) when you need it?
