Sites like Digg are disruptive, exactly because of the “noise of the majority rule.” The potential for a Digg or Newsvine users to expose both niche and generalist perspectives simultaneously, pointing large groups of people to numerous voices — blogs and mainstream sources alike — is really important.
It’s about extending community beyond the “signal” of the conglomerates and letting that “noise” sort itself out. Who’s to say more “signal” won’t be uncovered?

I personally like http://del.icio.us/popular/ better then digg. seems to uncover more sites that wouldn’t be covered by the diggs and newsvines out there. digg feels kinda rigged anyway these days..and the quality of stories seems to be eh too…but still its on my daily reads.
oh and by the way check out my ajax news aggregator ;)

a cameo by paul d! how are your wrists treating you? last time we spoke, you could barely write!
yeah, my aggregator has a bunch of del/pop feeds. it is a much better source of info — more diverse. i also subscribe to a bunch of rotating tags on technorati.
digg and newsvine are similar in many ways, but i think much more disruptive; their focus is on the interface, not the backend, which early adopter, tech “feed” beasts like gravitate towards. even though they’re niche, they’re built to attract a bigger audience.
i’ll check your baby out. come on back, man!
YA dude, wrists are much better, carpel tunnel and what not sucks….coupled with the weather, it didn’t help much. hope everything is going well in NC!
Nice work on the blog and your projects btw.
