Especially after yesterday’s “compromise” on torture.
Say, who would Jesus torture?
right on.
hold yourself to the high standard you expect from your government. Imagine if you were under the scrutiny of the folks you agree with.
i do just that every waking moment of my existence, bruce. believe me. but i’d have to disagree with you that this administration or the leadership of the 109th congress agrees with most of my thinking… or rational, empathetic, humane americans in general.
Nations are false constructs set up to divide us. It is utterly meaningless to say ‘The Most American Thing You Can Do’ when 90% Americans, just like the rest of the world are barely scraping by to survive.
Class is all that matters, and the working class have no nation!
well, in the reality of our society, i’d have to say that the message speaks to the heart of the argument over keeping our mouths shut during a time of war or being labled traitor or unpatriotic.
in this world, we do have nations, so we need to speak up and participate — no matter the class we belong to. obviously that gets more difficult the farther down the class system, but if an effort isn’t made, no change will ever occur.
Woot: While I agree that nations are rather insane and artificial subdivisions of humanity, fact is that nations are *ideas*, and so they are real in a way. Perhaps nations are even ways of thinking. And as the graffiti points out very nicely, once upon a time it was the Americans who were the oppressed. Even if this is now conveniently forgotten or twisted into another excuse for jingoism.
Well …welcome to the United States the west’s only communist country besides cuba and just think that fucking half wit Bush and his cronnies still have 2 more years!!!!
For the most part I hate graffiti. But graffiti that expresses an opinion and doesn’t look so bad I can deal with.
Wishful thinking.
Exactly
You say America is the West’s only communist country. Wrong. America is the West’s only Fascist country.
Truthfully if America were a communist country then there wouldn’t be many of the problems America faces today.
How is questioning the government the most American thing someone can do? What a bizarre statement. Do Brits who question their government become American?
where does it say anything about becoming american by questioning your government?
