Mos Def Is Manhandled By NYPD Cops
Mos Def was apparently performing Katrina Klap without a permit outside the MTV Music Awards, so the cops came to shut his act down.
No authority-drilled cop would like the lyrics to that masterpiece, and a permit is a permit is a permit… but what’s up with the cop grabbing him on-stage?
Maybe they received a tip from a passerby that his mic was full of lip balm and soda and he was heading directly to JFK after the performance?
Assholes.

It’s a clear example of a police state when you need a permit to sing or say anything controversial. Mos Def and Immortal Technique are doing great.
my newly adopted hometown discovered the bullshit about permits 27 years ago (when cops decide to not serve and protect and the kkk runs rampant)… in the end, power will do what it wants, permit or no permit.
good to hear mos and immortal are alright. we need more men like them in hip-hop. shit, we need more men like them in politics.
Yeah I feel you both — hip-hop, in my point of view, should be political — it should be activist; that’s what hip-hop is all about. The so-called ‘urban’ bling bling crap on tv really has got nothing to do with it.
Anyways, we mos definitely need more men (or women) like them… Everywhere. ;-)
