Still think the web isn’t disruptive? Tower Records has gone bankrupt and is being liquidated. I’m going to miss Tower Village in Manhattan.

This is me not being sad about the demise of Tower. I’ll be even less sad about the demise of the major record labels.
as a metro-new yorker, that tower was my favorite place to hang out while my parents cruised the galleries of soho. in my 20’s, it was my late night stop on thursday nights after catching mingus big band at the fez (also closed).
record stores — though pricey — hold a place in my heart. major record labels *need* to be toppled.
