		<description>Oddly enough, in the women's bathroom at the Green Bean, just by the toilet paper, is Gil Barber's name and a respectful message. 

I was working in the High Point bureau for the N&#38;R when this happened. I wasn't covering cops, but Cherise Hodges was. She later moved to Charlotte, and I think she's published a novel online. I googled her, but got few leads.

High Point was one of the oddest places I've ever lived: Where else would a giantic, armoir with a sock hanging out the drawer overshadow and outsize the historical marker to John Coltrane's birthplace?</description>
